Experimenting with the old/new aesthetic of synthetic music at its guitar-driven core, She Past Away has forged a sound, an attitude and a sensibility, conveyed through minimalist poetry sung in Turkish, which draws the audience into a dense and continuous epic journey, both in their recordings and live performances.
In April 2009, the band released their critically acclaimed first EP, Kasvetli Kutlama, on Remmov. Following the digital release of their debut album Belirdi Gece in February 2012, the band signed with Fabrika Records in 2013 and shortly thereafter released Belirdi Gece on LP. Including ‘Rituel,’ ‘Ruh,’ and ‘Kasvetli Kutlama,’ the album was listed as one of the best albums of the decade 2010-2019 by the website post-punk.com.
With the release of their second album, ‘Narin Yalnızlık,’ in May 2015, the duo established themselves as one of the most influential and successful groups in the dark wave genre, performing numerous shows that drew crowds around the world.
In 2019, the duo presented the public with a beautifully dark and engaging new album, ‘Disko Anksiyete’. In May 2020, to celebrate their tenth anniversary, they released the remix album ‘X’, including remixes by Boy Harsher, The Soft Moon, Clan of Xymox, Front 242, Lebanon Hanover and many others, and in October 2020, the band’s first live studio recording was released under the title ‘Part Time Punks Session’.
SHE PAST AWAY is an engaging and mesmerising explosion of sentimental anxiety through a nihilistic mindset. It is both personal and comprehensive, like a wandering mind brave enough to question taboos and existence.
